Colby Mann Named General Manager of Donut Media
A Longtime Donut Creative Lead to Run all Content and Business Operations
Los Angeles, CA — February 20, 2025 — Donut Media has named Colby Mann the brand’s new General Manager. Mann was Donut’s seventh full-time employee, joining to help develop and produce their first original YouTube series, Up to Speed.
Working alongside Donut’s inaugural Editor-in-Chief, James Pumphrey, Up to Speed would become the brand’s first hit show. Mann spent nearly four years producing and editing over 130 episodes. During that time, he played an integral part in growing Donut’s merchandise business and podcast efforts, including Past Gas, one of Apple’s most popular Automotive podcasts.
In 2020, Mann was promoted to Creative Director of Branded Content and was responsible for transforming the brand’s growing portfolio of sponsored work. Since then, he has worked with all of Donut’s hosts to overhaul advertising campaigns from simple in-video reads to satirical yet informative commercials that authentically resonated with Donut’s audience. In 2023, Donut won a Streamy Award for its ASMcaR campaign for Nissan.
“Donut has been a huge part of my life—it’s where I’ve grown, learned, and built something I’m proud of alongside some of the most talented people on YouTube. Stepping into the GM role is a big responsibility, but it also feels like the natural next step. The team and I have awesome plans—more videos, live events, brand-new podcasts, and plenty of surprises—all to take Donut’s core message, that cars are for everyone, even further. 2025 will be my eighth year with Donut, and I’m just as fired up to create as I was on day one,” Mann said.
