Jamal Bara is Recurrent’s VP of SEO. He is responsible for building, implementing, and scaling Recurrent’s SEO strategy to ensure best practices are constantly being improved and utilized. His focus is to increase visibility and efficiency for each media brand while helping to drive more organic traffic.
Jamal was one of the founding team members of Recurrent’s media efforts, joining the company to oversee all things commerce and SEO when they acquired The Drive in 2018. Since then, he has helped scale the company and specifically the SEO department during a high growth period that saw Recurrent expand to include nearly 25 digital media brands and over 300 employees. Jamal oversees a team of over 10 SEO specialists (and counting) who work across the media brands to help customize and uplevel their SEO audits, upgrades, and general efforts.
Jamal began his career focusing on e-commerce, affiliate, and SEO for various media companies and corporations in Canada. In 2007, he launched his first online business operating several online e-commerce businesses in the furniture and clothing verticals. He managed and employed a team of eight across the globe that generated $600K+ in annual revenue. In 2014 he relocated to San Francisco to work in SEO and Lead Generation for SaaS startups, including Piqora and Waterfall. In 2017 he transitioned back to a media focus when he founded a digital media brand called Fitness Goat.
